Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto believes that manager Jose Mourinho has managed to create a sense of belongingness between the players and the club.
There has been talk about Mourinho’s future at the club and he recently denied contact with any other clubs. There has also been talk of the fact that Mourinho’s relationship with Tiago Pinto isn’t great and a coldness exists between the pairing, as their visions for the future of the club are different.
Ahead of the Europa League final against Sevilla, Pinto spoke to Sky (via Di Marzio) and he spoke about the occassion and the way Mourinho has managed to help the club’s players in feeling a belongingness towards the Giallorossi project.
“Today Dybala, in the past other players, there is a sense of belonging , the relationship with the coach means that they can push a lot in these moments. Even Belotti or Smalling have made these efforts in the past to play, today is Paulo’s turn. For me it is a pride.”
Dybala was a big doubt to feature in the final as he had an ankle injury but he trained in Rome and Mourinho revealed yesterday that he would play about 20 or 30 minutes. But surprisingly enough, he is starting the game and is expected to play a key role in the tie.
