Germany host Turkey at the Olympiastadion in the first of two friendlies over the November international break.
Notable omissions include Manuel Neuer and Jamal Musiala, the latter of which suffered a hamstring injury but could return for Bayern Munich against FC Köln on November 24. Julian Nagelsmann has, however, called three people up to the national team for the first time: Janis Blaswich (RB Leipzig), Grischa Prömel (Hoffenheim) and Marvin Ducksch (Werder Bremen).
Prömel’s call-up comes after Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha withdrew from the squad with a slight hip injury, but the former is unlikely to start against Turkey on Saturday night.
The problem area for Nagelsmann and Germany is their full-back positions. Jonathan Tah, primarily a central-defender, could start at right-back with Benjamin Henrichs on the opposite flank. Robin Gosens would have started but the Union Berlin player had to withdraw from the squad with his partner expecting their second child.
In attack, Niclas Füllkrug appears to be Germany’s preferred option to lead the line now, with Marvin Ducksch and Thomas Müller both options from the bench.
