Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was delighted with their 4-1 rout of Luton on Wednesday.
The Hatters had the lead through Chiedozie Ogbene, before the hosts hit back via goals from Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz and Harvey Elliott.
Klopp said: “Half-time we knew if we calmed down in the final third then we have a good chance to win the game.
“We knew exactly what we had to improve on and the boys put 100% into that. Second half we were all over them and it was a whirlwind.
“The first half was not a bad game and in the final third we were just in a rush.
“We didn’t finish off the chances to our tactical standards. The boys did exceptionally well, one of the best I have seen us play and I enjoyed it very much.
“We have worked together for a while and I know usually what I can ask the players to do.”
On his young players stepping up, Klopp said: “It’s not obviously perfect, we said it before how many games would have Jarell Quansah played if Joel Matip wasn’t injured?
“Quansah has stepped up. Same with Conor [Bradley] and Bobby [Clark], James McConnell, a massive improvement in our young boys.
“Same with Ryan [Gravenberch]. He is very young so many things which are really nice and if you can make it out of a bad situation with something positive it feels great.
“It’s a pretty challenging situation and I will let the boys recover and see who we can line up for the final.”
