FC Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandes tore into his players after their Sunday loss to Rayo Vallecano.
Barca went down by a solitary goal to blow any league title chance hope with Xavi questioning his players’ personality in the game.
“We deserved more, but we didn’t have the personality we needed to have. This is our reality. We’re in a difficult situation. We’re still in the Champions League race, but we’ve complicated our situation, and we must fight on,” Xavi said after the game as quoted by Marca.
The loss means that Real Madrid only needs a point in the final five games to clinch the title.

The win was Rayo’s first at Camp Nou in their history with the solo goal scored by Alvaro Garcia early in the game but Barca still has a chance of securing a Champions League qualification spot in the last few weeks of 2021/22.
Up next for Xavi is a home game against Mallorca in what will be one of their remaining five games. The club could slip to third place in the final rankings, for just the second time in 16 seasons should they fail to win some of the remaining games.
