England manager Gareth Southgate will be among the top earners at the 2022 World Cup, thanks to his annual salary of close to £5 million-per-year.
That’s according to research by the team over at Footy Accumulators, who have put together a list of the best-paid managers in Qatar.
Using those numbers, as well as figures from Finance Football, we’ve worked out the wages of every boss heading to the tournament – and there’s some serious pay inequality going on between the highest and lowest earners at the tournament.
You can check out the full list below. Alternative sources are noted below where managerial changes have recently taken place or new contracts have been signed.

3. Didier Deschamps | France | £3,270,000
2. Gareth Southgate | England | £4,990,000
1. Hansi Flick | Germany | £5,590,000
As the top earner at the tournament, German boss Flick will earn almost as much in a single week as Tunisia chief Kadri will be paid in an entire year.
Having guided England to the latter stages of their last two major tournaments, Southgate was rewarded with a bumper new contract last November.
Brazil are currently favourites to lift the trophy on December 18 at Lusail Iconic Stadium in Qatar. Their boss, Tite, rakes in a mammoth £3.1m each year – a figure that is still more than £1.8m less than Southgate reportedly earns.
Deschamps and Van Gaal also make the top five, pulling down impressive salaries.
Spanish boss Enrique would be far higher than his 17th-place ranking if it were not for the 25% pay cut that he personally requested during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Quiz: Can you name all 30 of these ‘streets won’t forget’ players from World Cups?
Wales boss Page broke the £1m barrier in terms of his annual wages when he signed a new contract with the FAW back in September.
Page’s £1.2m salary is more than four times that of former Liverpool defender Song, who makes less than £300,000 as the head coach of Cameroon.
It’s also worth pointing out that these numbers don’t include bonuses. Therefore, if Southgate is able to end England’s 56 years of hurt in Qatar, he’ll surely pocket well in excess of £5m before 2022 is out.
