Watford release 27 players following relegation from the Premier League

Following their relegation from the Premier League in the 2021-22 season, Watford discharged a total of 27 players from their roster.

Following the recent appointment of Forest Green Rovers manager Rob Edwards, who replaces Roy Hodgson, the Hornets will prepare for the Championship next season under new management.

With the likes of Ismaila Sarr and Emmanuel Dennis poised to depart the club owing to interest abroad, the 39-year-old appears to have a massive squad overhaul on his hands this summer.

In addition, on Tuesday, the club confirmed that four first-team players had been released from Vicarage Road after their contracts expired in June.

One of the four is veteran goalkeeper Ben Foster, while Nicolas Nkoulou, Andre Gray, and Juraj Kucka have all left Watford this summer.

Gray spent the 2021-22 season on loan at Championship side Queens Park Rangers, while Nkoulou only appeared three times in the Premier League after joining on a free transfer in October.

Meanwhile, Kucka has chosen to use his contract’s break provision, which permits him to quit his one-year deal with the Hornets.

19 Under-23s players and four members of the Under-18s team will also leave Watford in the coming weeks, including 21-year-old Maurizio Pochettino, the son of Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of Paris Saint-Germain.
