As covered by Marca, the reception for both teams was impressive. Everything that manager Diego Simeone could have wished for ahead of the tie, as they hope to make then match a hostile experience for Guardiola and his team.
Atletico lost at the weekend against relegation strugglers Mallorca, although there was a clear sense that the focus was elsewhere in that match.
Manchester City on the other hand played out an intense 2-2 draw with Liverpool, which Simeone will hope took something out of their legs.
If the previous night’s action was anything to go by, it should be a fantastic occasion.
