Etienne Capoue is pinching himself over his success with Villarreal.
Having won the Europa League last season, Villarreal are now in the Champions League quarterfinals against Bayern Munich.
Capoue said, “The Champions League is very difficult, but we are doing well. We face FC Bayern, who for me are the best team in Europe. We will enjoy the tie. We know we will suffer because they are very strong and have a very difficult task of defending, but we must not be afraid. We can get a good result at home.
“At the end of 2020 I didn’t think I was going to go down this road, but I’ve been lucky and I’m enjoying it. I don’t want this road to end now. I want to continue enjoying the Champions League and finish in a good position in LaLiga.”
On coach Unai Emery, Capoue added: “The coach is very intelligent. During his career he has shown that he does his job very well, he has won a lot of titles. Thanks to him I have a UEFA Europa League title. He does a great job of learning about his opponents and how we have to play.”
