Europe chasing Villarreal have kept themselves in the hunt for a Europa League spot in 2022 thanks to a 1-0 win at home to Celta Vigo.
Unai Emery’s side find themselves in the running for one of two spaces, between four La Liga sides, in the end of season run in, with 28 games played.
The Yellow Submarine sealed their first ever major title with a win in last season’s Europa League final and they are still in the knockout stages of the Champions League in 2021/22.
Neither side created much in the opening 45 minutes at the Estadio de la Ceramica with Arnaut Danjuma poking the hosts best chance over the bar after the restart.
However, Villarreal’s one real opening was converted, just after the hour mark, as Dani Parejo’s deflected strike squirted home.
