Victor Osimhen is yet to return to Napoli, spurring a sense of irritation among the teammates.
Barring Victor Osimhen, everyone, who represented their countries during the latest international window, has returned to Napoli ahead of Serie A’s restart this weekend, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Osimhen joined the Nigerian national side to represent the country in the nation’s last bid to qualify for the Qatar World Cup. They needed to win the tie against Ghana to make the main round of the World Cup. But it did go as Osimhen would have thought.
The game ended in a 1-1 scoreline. But with Ghana scoring an away in the second leg of the qualifiers, Nigeria succumbed to a surprise elimination. Osimhen was on the pitch for the entirety of the match, but so was Hirving Lozano, who represented Mexico against El Salvador on Thursday in CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers. Unlike the Nigerian striker, Lozano has returned and trained with the group.
Although Napoli have said that they have given Osimhen a leave, the situation has reportedly caused annoyance among some of the members of the Napoli squad. The Partenopei face Atalanta in a mouthwatering Serie A fixture on Sunday.
