When the draw was made official, the game between Juve and the reigning Ligue 1 champions gathered much anticipation. Even a few months ago, it was expected that the fixture would decide the European fortune for Juve. But now that the Old Lady’s fortune has been decided as they will end the Champions League group stages outside the top two positions, it is about ending the miserable experience on an optimistic note and securing their place in the Europa League via a third-placed finish.
The Bianconeri will play the rest of their European campaign in the Europa League this season unless Maccabi Haifa salvage something positive out of their game against Benfica and Juve fail to do the same on their home turf. The affair also holds some significance for the visitors, with PSG’s top-spot finish in the respective group at stake. Bremer has rejoined the group training ahead of the Champions League clash but might not be able to take the field on Wednesday.
