Udinese chief Pierpaolo Marino says it’s been a positive preseason.
Marino commented on new signings Enzo Ebosse and Nehuen Perez, along with the double friendly against Chelsea.
Marino told Udinese Today: “Ebosse is part of our defensive restructuring; he’s also a great alternative to Destiny Udogie. As for Perez, we’re glad to have him back. There’s not a lot more to say about him; we saw what he was capable of last season. We were lucky to be able to strike a deal with Atletico Madrid and get a great player like Nehuen.
“Regarding our matches against Chelsea, we’re happy with how we did. We’re not of their Champions League standard; they’ve got a whole squad replete with classy players like N’Golo Kante and Raheem Sterling. We’re delighted with how we did; both matches were open. I’m also happy that many of our Primavera youngsters got to test their mettle against a team like Chelsea.
“As for the start of the season being upon us, we’ve got our first match of the campaign on Friday 5 August in the Coppa Italia against Feralpisalo. We’ve got to be cautious; they’ve got a great coach in Stefano Vecchi and three years ago we found it tough going against his Sudtirol side. It’s no surprise that Feralpisalo knocked out a Serie B side in the last round; we’ll need to be fully focused.”
