Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with Jesse Lingard’s representative over a possible move away from Manchester United.
With the World Cup coming in the summer, Lingard feels he still has a lot to offer for the Gareth Southgate side but his chances have been slim after falling behind the pecking order at Old Trafford.
Reports Football London now claims that Antonio Conte’s side have “made contact with Lingard’s camp over a potential move to north London” in the summer. A January move is also on the table but the initial wish is for the club to have him on loan and turn it into a permanent one should he impress.
The North London side is said to be ready to offload some of their midfielders including Ndombele and Ali and Conte has already drawn a plan on the players he wants to replace the duo should they find the right buyer.
Lingard is free to sign a pre-contract with any club this month as his contract with United will be expiring in the summer and despite reports linking him with a move to Italy, it is said that the player’s desire is to remain in England.
Apart from Spurs, Lingard has been linked with a move to Newcastle United and West Ham though the latter has been reluctant in matching his wage demands.
