Matteo Tognozzi has been named new sporting director of Granada.
Tognozzi takes the post after leaving his role as chief scout with Juventus.
He said at his presentation: “I have to thank them for allowing me to sign with Granada, the first hours of work were already positive.
“I want to develop all the things I have learned over the past years, the board believes in everything I know and am. I have just arrived and I have to discuss possible reinforcements with the coach. I really appreciate Paco (Lopez, the coach of Granada), but we haven’t talked about the transfer market yet. I’ve just arrived but you can already see the way the team responds to its coach, we have no doubts about him.
“I believe that the figure of the sporting director serves to provide support to the coach. I am responsible for having to choose the best players for his style of play. We are looking for the formula to walk together, step by step.
“My goal is to make this project long-term, I feel the trust of the club. I am young but I have been working in football for a long time. At Juventus we have created a second team, a bit like what is done in Spain.
“I had other proposals, but none that wanted me as much as Granada. I would like to include the figure of a technical director and be able to create a scouting structure.”
