As reported by Sky Germany, Bayern Munich consider Aleksandar Pavlović the future of their midfield.
It has been a rather dismal season for Der Rekordmeister. An early elimination from the DFB-Pokal and a capitulation in the Bundesliga mean they face their first titleless season in over a decade.
While the Champions League is still a possibility, they will have to overcome a 1-0 deficit against Lazio before potentially facing the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City. Nevertheless, it has not been all doom and gloom for Bayern this season.
For years now, Bayern fans have been yearning for an academy prospect to break into the senior side, and while Jamal Musiala may come to mind, it is easy to forget that it has been four years since he established himself in the Bayern starting XI.
Therefore, the emergence of Aleksandar Pavlović has undoubtedly caused considerable jubilation among the Bayern faithful. With two goals and two assists so far this campaign, the 19-year-old has been a sensation for the record champions, often outshining the far more experienced Joshua Kimmich.
Sky Germany expert and former Bayern midfielder Lothar Matthäus even expressed his amazement at Pavlović’s early performances for Der Rekordmeister: “I really enjoy the boy because of his personality and his playing qualities. I would rely on someone like him. Pavlovic could become someone like Bastian Schweinsteiger, Philipp Lahm, or Thomas Müller.”
With Max Eberl recently being appointed as Bayern’s board member of sport, it is expected that Pavlović’s game time at the club will only increase. Eberl hopes to see a far greater reliance on younger players at the Allianz Arena, something that he has overseen in his previous roles at RB Leipzig and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
In Pavlović, Bayern undeniably have a future star, and there is no doubt that he could become an icon of the club.
