Strasbourg manager Patrick Vieira on a potential Arsenal return: “You never know.”

Speaking on TéléfootRC Strasbourg Alsace manager Patrick Vieira was non-commital on a potential return to former club Arsenal in the future.

Following a spell of mixed fortunes at Crystal Palace, Vieira has returned to Ligue 1. The former OGC Nice manager has led Les Alsaciens to fourth in the league after six matches with three wins, one draw and two losses. There are heightened ambitions at the French club given the considerable transfer spend following BlueCo’s takeover. “[A top eight finish] is foreseeable. It is important to set objectives and put things in place in order to achieve them. What we do on a daily basis will dictate where we can go,” Vieira told Téléfoot.

The former France international was then questioned about a potential return to Arsenal. He played over 400 times for the London club, winning three Premier League titles over an 11-season spell. Vieira replied, “This job is a very difficult one. You never know what can happen. My objectives and my desire is to bring this club (Strasbourg) to another level and we’ll see about the rest.”

Didier Deschamps and Thierry Henry, both former teammates of Vieira, currently occupy places in the national team setup, the former as head coach of the senior side, the latter as U21 manager. However, Vieira seemingly has no immediate desire to replace Deschamps as manager of Les Bleus. “France is in good hands with Didier. I hope he’ll remain manager for a good period of time yet,” said Vieira.
