Strasbourg manager Julien Stéphan is Lyon’s priority should Peter Bosz leave

L’Équipe report this afternoon that Strasbourg manager Julien Stéphan is the Lyon management’s priority option should Peter Bosz leave.

President Jean-Michel Aulas is keeping faith in the Dutchman for now, despite the 3-0 Europa League loss to West Ham being the latest in a catastrophic season. However, unless results improve and a continental spot is secured at the end of the campaign, he could be on the way out.

Both Aulas and director of football Vincent Ponsot have Julien Stéphan in mind as his replacement, with the former Rennes man challenging for Europe this season with his Strasbourg side. The Alsatians say they have not had any contact with Lyon, while it remains to be seen whether they would be willing to let him go with two years left on his contract.

Laurent Blanc also remains a candidate, with Aulas openly speaking about potentially bringing him on board back in January. Former Troyes manager Laurent Batlles would be a lower-cost option, although as a former Saint-Étienne man and with his lack of experience the odds would be against him. Strasbourg are also looking into him as a potential Stéphan replacement.
