England manager Gareth Southgate has explained the situation surrounding Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Liverpool defender has earned a recall to the Three Lions squad for Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia.
Alexander-Arnold, who has been used as a midfielder by boss Jurgen Klopp in recent weeks, has been in great form.
Southgate told reporters after his squad announcement: “Trent’s a superb footballer and he’s playing in a slightly different role.
“He has always been in advanced areas with the ball, he’s just a bit more central now.
“It’s interesting for us and an option and something I have spoken to him about in recent weeks. We are looking forward to working with Trent.”
