FC Sion signing Mario Balotelli isn’t giving up on a recall from Italy.
Balotelli signed for Sion last week from Adana Demirspor.
He told DAZN: “I have just arrived, I’m fine. It’s an adventure, but definitely a choice made well. Let’s hope it goes well. I wanted to score against Basel, but it’s important to have won. I’m happy with this choice. It’s a lifestyle choice. At a football level, the Swiss championship is a particular league, certainly not the best in the world, but difficult. You can’t come here thinking of taking a vacation.
“But people let you live, it’s fine, so it’s a life choice.
“It’s not like I’m 40, I’m 32. I’m really excited.”
On Italy coach Roberto Mancini, the former Inter and AC Milan striker continued: “I have always had a wonderful relationship, no kind of grudge. As coach of the national team he made his choices and I have always respected them. I can say that not being called up with Macedonia hurt me. But not the fact that Mancini ignored me, but because as an Italian I knew I could help the national team.
“I have always had a good relationship with Mancini and it will always remain a nice relationship.
“It’s not that I don’t care about the national team anymore, it would be a lie to say it. But right now I think about taking it easy, doing my championship, then if the national team arrives, so be it.
“If there is a chance and I deserve it, so be it. For my part, there will never be closed doors to the national team.”
