Simone Inzaghi following loss to Bologna: “We approached the match badly”

Following Inter’s frustrating 1-0 defeat to Bologna at the Stadio Dall’Ara, Simone Inzaghi expressed his disappointment within the post-match presser.

Despite amassing two consecutive victories across all competitions earlier this week after defeating Udinese and Porto, the Nerazzurri have failed to maintain consistency as they were quite far from the mark this afternoon.

A lack of creativity and passing accuracy, as well as defensive organization enabled the Rossoblu to continuously anticipate the play and create occasions from a counter-attacking position.

In the 86th minute of play, a woeful past from Danilo D’ambrosio was interceptd by Jerdy Schouten within the central area of the pitch. The Dutch midfielder threaded a brilliant ball to pick-out Riccardi Orsolini on the break. The Italian winger latched onto the ball while on the run and tucked the ball past Andre Onana to ensure that Bologna would seal all three points.

Consequently, Inzaghi’s men’s underwhelming display has led to the Benemata being 18 points behind the league-leaders Napoli, as well asonly three points ahead of top-four hopefuls Milan and Atalanta.

Within Inter’s Champions League qualification in grave danger, Simone Inzaghi provided his input on the squad’s performance this afternoon, as per La Gazzetta dello Sport:

“We approached the match badly and with an insufficient first half not like Inter. In the second half we took the measures and were creating, but we conceded a goal that we didn’t take at a time when we weren’t suffering. We are angry and we need to do more.

“The away figure is significant, we are excellent at home and insufficient away. We analyzed it with the lads and talked about it, last year we went better and now we have eaten up the advantage over the others. Now we have to be good in the last 14 games.

With a goal on the actions of Calhanoglu or Dzeko we would be talking about something else, but we must repeat that we need to do more. Concentration and determination must always be maintained, every two and a half days. The first half will be a reason for analysis, we must be lucid to understand the reasons, we have fielded almost nothing.”
