New Sassuolo star Armand Laurienté has revealed that Kylian Mbappe is quite different from how it seems from the outside.
Lauriente joined Sassuolo from Lorient in the summer and he has impressed for the Neroverdi, scoring one goal and racking up two assists in four Serie A appearances. He has essentially replaced current Atalanta man Jeremie Boga, who left Sassuolo last January.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Laurienté spoke about a host of things and one of them was Mbappe, who he was roommates with Clairefontaine as a teenager.
He stated: “We have lost touch a bit, but when we meet we talk about that period. We have many memories together. Kylian is different from how he appears: he is playful, available. In Clairefontaine they were trained. great champions, like Henry and Anelka. I hope to fit into that trend.”
The Frenchman also spoke about his liking for Juninho and the fact that he wants to replicate his free-kick taking abilities at some point in the future.
“I practice a lot, I happened to score very good goals. I am inspired by Juninho Pernambucano, the best specialist ever. I try to be.”
The winger also spoke about the differences between how football is played in France and in Italy, as he said: “Compared to France, it is more difficult to find spaces in the last thirty meters of the pitch. The teams defend in blocks, with a great organization.”
Sassuolo take on Inter later today in a game where they have always troubled the Nerazzurri in the last few seasons.
