Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has denied reports that Youri Tielemans has rejected a new contract at the King Power Stadium.
Tielemans’ contract with Leicester is set to expire in 18 months’ time and a number of Premier League clubs are chasing for his signature. Last week, reports emerged that the 24-year-old had turned down a new contract but Rodgers has revealed talks over a new deal are still ongoing.
“Firstly he has not declined [a new contract]. I have seen stories but the position is exactly the same,” said Rodgers.
“He is a fantastic player and there has been no movement. He has worked well and until his last days here, he will always give his best.
“He is a top professional and you saw his commitment today.”
Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United are interested in securing the services of the Belgian whose contract expires at the end of next season.
Leicester manager Rodgers: “Tielemans? You’ll get people asking if we can hang on to these players for the next 6 years but the reality is that if a player does really well at Leicester, he may want to leave” 🔵 #LCFC @ChrisWheatley_
