Stade Rennais are weighing up a move for the Napoli defender Leo Østigård (24). The Norwegian international joined Napoli in 2022 from Brighton but has made limited appearances for I Ciucciarelli.
During his debut season, Napoli won their first Serie A in 33 years, but Østigård rarely featured. A managerial change last summer as Luciano Spalletti left and was replaced by Rudi Garcia, coupled with the departure of Kim Min-Jae (27) in the Napoli backline, looked to provide the centreback with an opportunity within the first team.
From the fourth game week, Østigård featured extensively, but poor results from the reigning champions necessitated another change in manager, and the defender has been limited to only two starts since the midseason appointment of Walter Mazzarri.

According to Mohamed Toubache-Ter, Rennes have been assessing the defender and his situation and could consider him to be an option to help shore up their leaky defence,
The French side have struggled to keep clean sheets this season, and extra cover would not go amiss, especially when Arthur Theate (23) remains a target for teams across Europe.
