Real Madrid wing-back Lucas Vazquez admits they weren’t at their best for Sunday’s defeat at Atletico Madrid.
Yannick Carrasco struck from the spot for the only goal of the game.
Vazquez said, “We knew we’d be in for a tough game after what’s been a really intense week, with the LaLiga title celebrations and securing our place in the Champions League final. We’ve lost the game, but the team stood up and was counted throughout and we now go again on Thursday.
“We really struggled to play out from the back and play our game in the first half. We dominated things after the break and could have equalised, but we ultimately failed to get the goal. The coach is the one who decides on the starting line-up and we just go out there and try to do our best.
“We’ve got three LaLiga matches left and have to go all out in them ahead of the Champions League final. The best way to prepare for the final is to treat these games for what they are, which is LaLiga matches in which we have to give our all.”
