Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti says they know the importance of today’s clash with Espanyol.
A point will be enough to confirm Real Madrid LaLiga champions.
Ancelotti said, “We’re aware we’re very close to clinching the title and we have to get the point we need in these games because the league hasn’t finished yet. We’d like to end it tomorrow and the team know the performance we need.
“Nobody thought we’d be here at this stage of the season. The team has done a superb job so far and we’ve done it by winning a lot of games away from home at very tough grounds – twice in Seville, in Bilbao and Barcelona, San Sebastián…
“Since the end of the game against City all we’ve been focused on is the Espanyol match. We’re on match point and when the best tennis players get there, they make sure they win it. We’re a great team and when we need to give that final blow, we will do so.
“I hope it comes tomorrow. I don’t think we’ll relax because the title is so close and I don’t think it’ll be going through anyone’s mind after all the hard work we’ve done to get here. We need a point and we have to think about preparing for the match in the best possible way to try and win it.”
