Real Madrid captain Marcelo admits Alcoyano pushed them hard for last night’s Copa del Rey win.
Real Madrid eventually ranout 3-1 winners against the Segunda Division outfit.
Marcelo later said: “These are the toughest kind of games. We know they’re capable of springing an upset and we’ve learned from that. There are more games to come, but we put in a disciplined performance today. Everyone battled, we didn’t get the chance to play too much but we worked hard and fought.
“You have spells in the game which are more difficult. That was the case early, in the opening ten minutes, and then at the start of the second half, but we managed to control the game. These games are the most satisfying when you win.
“I’ve always given my very best ever since I arrived at the club. I’m going to continue doing so until the end of my contract, I owe this jersey so much and I’ll keep giving it my all until the very end. It doesn’t matter if I’m playing more or less, I have history at this club, a successful career, and I’m going to keep going until the last.”
