Appearing via a video call at Marca’s Sport Week event taking place in Málaga this afternoon, Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al Khelaifi was notably asked about the futures of Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos at the club – with the latter two seeing their contracts expire at the end of the season.
The Spanish defender is said to be keen on a contract extension, although whether he stays in the French capital beyond this summer will ostensibly depend on his performances in the Ligue 1 campaign run-in. In Messi’s case, despite reports of an agreement in principle in place with PSG, the Argentine could yet leave the club amid interest from Barcelona as well as Inter Miami. The newly-appointed France captain, meanwhile, is currently under contract until the end of next year, and the Ligue 1 leaders have no intention of parting ways with their star man this summer.
Speaking this afternoon, Al Khelaifi indicated that the club intended to keep all three players moving forward:
“People want to know what’s happening. We’re working towards keeping them. We’re going to analyse what we’re doing and how we can go on and do things properly. We won’t make errors. I think it’s important for us to concentrate on our season now.”
