Following their defeat to Lazio in the Derby della Capitale, Roma will aim to get back to winning ways when they face lowly Sampdoria today at the Stadio Olimpico.
Despite qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Europa League, the Giallorossi could only manage one victory from three league games in March. In the Serie A, a crucial win against Juventus was followed up by a 4-3 defeat to Sassuolo and bigger problems piled up when Mattia Zaccagni’s goal stood the difference against neighbourhood rivals Lazio. Jose Mourinho’s side fell out of the top four but still have a chance as they are only a point away from 4th-placed Milan.
Meanwhile, Sampdoria ended their 11-game winless run in their last league match against relegation zone counterparts Verona. Manolo Gabbiadini’s brace and Alessandro Zanoli’s added-time goal steered them towards victory but the Blucerchiati are far from celebrating anything. They are currently 18th-placed and are nine points away from safety. A humungous task lies on their hands in the final stretch of the season as chances are fading of survival.
Here are the predicted line-ups from Sky Italia for today’s fixture:
Roma (3-4-2-1): Rui Patricio; Celik, Smalling, Llorente; Zalewski, Matic, Wijnaldum, Spinazzola; Dybala, Pellegrini; Abraham.
Sampdoria (3-4-2-1): Turk; Amione, Murillo, Murru; Zanoli, Cuisance, Winks, Augello; Leris, Djuricic; Gabbiadini
