After coming up as runners-up in the Coppa Italia final, Fiorentina will hope to lighten the mood in Florence when they face top-four finish-seeking Roma today at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
It has been an inconsistent season for Fiorentina and while much was expected of them at the start of it, Vincenzo Italiano’s men couldn’t come through in the crucial moments. Currently sitting in 11th place in the league standings, the Viola still has another chance at silverware this season as due to their heroic efforts, they will play the Conference League final against Premier League counterparts West Ham. A win against Roma would strengthen their form and raise their morale but it won’t do them any good in their league position.
Meanwhile, Roma approach this match on the back of a 2-2 draw with Salernitana. Antonio Candreva opened the scoring for the Granata and Stephan El Shaarawy cancelled that out with his 47th-minute equaliser. Boulaye Dias continued his stellar form and gave the visitors the lead but veteran Nemanja Matic’s goal in the last minutes of the match made the teams share the points. The Giallorossi play the Europa League final next month but they have hugely compromised on the league to become formidable in Europe.
Here are the predicted line-ups according to Sky Italia:
Fiorentina (4-2-3-1): Terraciano; Dodo, Milenkovic, Ranieri, Biraghi; Madragora, Duncan; Kouame, Barak, Ikone; Jovic.
Roma (3-4-1-2): Svilar; Keramitsis, Llorente, Ibanez; Celik, Bove. Tahirovic, Zalewski; El Shaarawy; Solbakken, Belotti.
