After enduring a stuttered start to the new season, Roma are finally gaining some momentum and are hoping to continue climbing up the table when they face lowly Cagliari today at Sardegna Arena.
Roma are far from having the season they expected at the start of the campaign. After drubbing Empoli by seven goals, the Giallorossi failed to win their following two Serie A games, drawing 1-1 with Torino and drowning in a 4-1 defeat to newly promoted Genoa. However, they did manage to return to winning ways in the 2-0 victory versus Frosinone. Roma’s European record remains perfect with two wins out of their two Europa League matches Romelu Lukaku has already found the net five times across all competitions since joining the capital city side as he hopes to steer them into promising territory by the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Cagliari approach this match on the back of a 3-0 defeat against Fiorentina. They are winless this season and the defeat in their last match extended their losing run to three straight games. Draws versus Torino and Udinese helped the Sardinians muster two points till now this campaign as they replicating relegated Cremonese’s performances from last season. The rock-bottom side won’t be expecting much from this match as Roma overpowers them by a significant margin.
Here are the predicted line-ups according to Sky Italia:
