Brighton manager Graham Potter has admitted his side did not deserve anything from Tuesday’s clash with Fulham.
The Cottagers won 2-1 in front of their supporters courtesy of an own goal from Lewis Dunk and Aleksandr Mitrovic’s fifth goal of the campaign.
Speaking after the game, Potter told BT Sport: “Frustrated with the performance and the result. I can’t say we deserved anything from the game. Not our best night. We didn’t play well enough in the first half then we gave away a couple of cheap goals in the second half. We were up against it, the response was good, but not enough. Fulham deserved the win.
“We made the changes but couldn’t quite get a foothold in the game. I think it helped us a little but overall it wasn’t a good enough performance from us. The first goal was a second phase in a set-piece which was disappointing. The second one is a mistake on a counter-attack. Those things happen in football.
“We’ve had a good run but we have to be honest enough when we haven’t played at the level. We need to learn from that and dust ourselves off for the weekend.
“It’s not a surprise because you know how competitive the league is. Fulham are fighting for the points like everyone else is. There’s no easy game. We’ve had a good start but we don’t think we’ve cracked football that’s for sure.
“The penalty gave us a bit of a lifeline. We pushed and pushed from that point but overall it was not enough.”
