PLAYER RATINGS | West Ham 1-1 Lyon, a huge chance missed for OL after Cresswell red card

Europa League 21/22, Quarter-Final 1st Leg, 7/4/22

LYON:

Anthony Lopes, 6

Malo Gusto, 3 – Promising and exciting, yes, but he remains a defensive liability as an attacking midfielder by trade. Starting here over the reliable Dubois was an error by Bosz and it was his poor pass that eventually led to the opening goal and, although he showed some nice touches, his crossing was largely awful.

Castello Lukeba, 5

Jérôme Boateng, 2 – A disaster, not far from a 1. It was an odd decision to start him given his lack of minutes of late and lumbering through the season so far. Having got away with a handful of errors in the first half, his heavy touch resulted in the opener, which then deflected in off his ankle.

Emerson Palmieri, 5

Thiago Mendes, 6

Tanguy Ndombele, 7 – Controlled long periods of the second half with his drop of the shoulder in midfield and neat passing in all areas and was central to Lyon winning the midfield battle throughout. It was he who nipped in to poach an equaliser.

Lucas Paquetá, 6

Houssem Aouar, 6

Romain Faivre, 3 – After a vaguely promising start he again drifted into obscurity and was withdrawn around the hour mark after what became a largely anonymous outing once again. His move promised much but has delivered little so far.

Moussa Dembélé, 5

Others: Tetê 6, Toko-Ekambi 5.
