Bayern Munich were back to their old ways this evening as they brushed aside a rather timid SC Freiburg team who simply let Bayern dominate. Julian Nagelsmann’s side are up into second position and surely now have their sights set on Union Berlin with just four points separating the two teams.
Bayern Munich – 5 (Gnabry, Choupo-Moting, Sané, Mané, Sabitzer)
Ulreich, 7 – What can you say? Ulreich was partially called into action at the beginning of the second half but other than that he was a spectator.
Mazraoui, 7 – He didn’t have to do much defending tonight but occasionally assisted with attacks down the right. A comfortable night.
Upamecano, 7 – In the past Upamecano has been the weak link in the Bayern defence but not tonight. He look confident and carried the ball well.
De Ligt, 7 – A solid performance by the Dutchman, He didn’t have to do a lot of defensive work but moved the ball quickly and well which helped the side keep their momentum.
Davies, 7 – The Canadian was basically a left wing-back this evening. It looked like he enjoyed his evening. No assist or goal but a solid game nonetheless.
Kimmich, 8 – Kimmich commanded the midfielder well. He linked well with the likes of Gnabry, Sané, and Mané. When he’s given too much space, he completely dominates the opposition.
Goretzka, 8 – He kept the side ticking over and must have enjoyed himself alongside Kimmich in the middle of the park. They had the freedom of the Allianz Arena and ade Freiburg pay.
Gnabry, 7 – A goal and assist like a few of his fellow forwards this evening. Gnabry was a threat from the opening exchanges.
Sané, 8 – Sané maybe got the goal of the evening when he slammed home from around 19 yards leaving Flekken standing still. When given half a yard of space, Sané is deadly.
Mané, 8 – Mané linked well with his teammates this evening and got himself a goal. Playing on the wing, he looked more like his former self at Liverpool. Keep him on the wing and he’ll be a regular on the scoresheet once again.
Choupo-Moting, 8 – Possibly performance of the night. Choupo-Moting proved his worth tonight and highlighted how much Bayern have missed a number nine.

SC Freiburg
Flekken, 7 – In all honesty, there wasn’t much Flekken could do for most of the goals. If it wasn’t for him, it could have been 8-0.
Sildillia, 6 – He had players coming at him left, right, and centre. Occasionally Sildillia tried to get forward but was trying to keep out wave after wave for most of the night.
Ginter, 3 – He and Lienhart were found out today, With the team sitting deep they had no outlet and were simply overrun. It was never going to end well.
Lienhart, 4 – A poor day at the office. At fault for the fourth goal and struggled to get out quick enough and stay close to his man.
Günter, 6 – He had his hands full tonight. When the tactics are so negative, it’s almost impossible to keep out Bayern for 90 minutes. Nothing much Günter could do this evening.
Eggestein, 5 – It felt as if Eggestein and his fellow midfielders simply couldn’t cope today. They sat off too much in the first half and didn’t recover after that.
Höfler, 6 – Tried his best to stop the likes of Goretzka and Kimmich but ultimately, it was a step too far for Höfler and company tonight.
Schade, 6 – A quiet day at the office. Spent most of the night trying to close down space as Bayern played out from the back.
Doan, 6 – Had a bright spell in the opening exchanges of the second half but that soon ended when Bayern scored twice in quick succession.
Grifo. 6 – He huffed and puffed like most of his attacking colleagues, Grifo spent his evening marking and trying to close down the gaping holes in Freberg’s formation.
Gregoritsch, 4 – Due to Freiburg’s lack of ambition, it was never going to be a breathtaking performance by Gregoritsch. He had next to nothing to go off and was probably happy to jog off just before the hour mark.
