After a tumultuous season both on and off the pitch, recurring injury issues will have limited Paul Pogba’s second debut season at Juventus to just six league appearances. The World Cup winner, though, appears intent on soldiering on with the Bianconeri.
According to L’Équipe tonight, the Frenchman is the subject of interest from Saudi Arabia, with the Gulf state looking to bring in the 30-year-old as the latest big-name player to join the local league in a summer offensive on European football.
Pogba, though, want to remain in Serie A, at least for the upcoming season, as he wants to remain in the limelight so as to secure a spot in France’s Euro 2024 squad, ahead of next summer’s tournament in Germany.
His recent visit to Saudi Arabia had fostered rumours about a potential imminent move, but his entourage has indicated to L’Équipe that he was purely there for personal reasons.
Juventus would not be against selling Pogba, given his high salary and repeated knee issues, but Pogba’s priority is to remain in Italy for the time being. The former Manchester United man is convinced that he can bounce back this coming campaign – and has told his Juventus teammates that he feels ready, as he sets his sights on the Euros. He is still following an individual training programme for the time being, but is hoping to be back to full fitness in two weeks’ time for the club’s pre-season tour of the USA.
