Roma have today announced the signing of French defender Evan Ndicka, who joins the Italian club on a long-term contract until 2028.
“The way that the project was explained to me along with this club’s history and prestige made me want to come to Rome, which is a fantastic city that loves and lives for football,” said Ndicka, upon his unveiling.
“I can’t wait to take to the Olimpico pitch in front of my new supporters and make my contribution towards achieving our objectives.”
Ndicka’s move to Italy brings an end to his five years at Eintracht Frankfurt and the 23-year-old will certainly look back on his time at the club with fondness. The Frenchman played an important role under Adi Hütter and then Oliver Glasner, winning the 2022 Europa League under the latter after beating Rangers in Seville.
The player’s time at Frankfurt resulted in 183 games across all competitions, which included 12 goals and 10 assists.
A left-football centre-back, Ndicka’s ability to play both in a back three and four will be an asset to Jose Mourinho’s Roma. His performances attracted interest from Europe’s biggest clubs including Barcelona and Milan.
Ndicka decided against signing a contract extension beyond 2023 at Eintracht. Speaking on the player’s departure earlier this month, SGE’s Markus Krösche said: “We would’ve liked to see Evan at Eintracht Frankfurt in the future, so it is a shame that he’s leaving us.”
