Chelsea FC have announced the signing of RB Leipzig forward and France international Christopher Nkunku (25). The former PSG youth product will officially join the West London side on July 1st.
Nkunku has put pen to paper over a six-year contract with Chelsea, tying him to the club until 2029. “I am incredibly happy to be joining Chelsea,” Nkunku said on the club’s website. “A big effort was made to bring me to the club and I am looking forward to meeting my new coach and teammates and showing the Chelsea supporters what I can do on the pitch.”

Nkunku’s arrival at Chelsea comes as no surprise – the documents for the transfer were signed by the player and the involved parties as early as last December. Nkunku was one of the most sought-after attacking players in Europe after going up a level since his arrival at Leipzig. The Frenchman scored 35 goals in all competitions during the 2021-2022 season and was named Bundesliga Player of the Season and German PFA Player of the Season.
His last season was disrupted by a serious knee injury that prevented him from playing in the 2022 World Cup with France. Nevertheless, he struck a further 23 goals, helping Leipzig secure a third-place finish in the German top flight and a back-to-back DFB-Pokal. Nkunku’s arrival is expected to trigger the sale of Chelsea forward Kai Havertz to Arsenal.
