Nigerian great John Obi Mikel admits he’s working on Napoli striker Victor Osimhen about joining Chelsea.
Obi Mikel says former club Chelsea need a striker like Osimhen.
Speaking to journalist Ben Jacobs at Web Summit Qatar, he said: “I’m still his ‘agent’. I’m trying to get him to Chelsea so I’ve got 20 per cent of that deal, let’s hope it works out. I think there is a genuine interest from both. He loves the club and wants to come to the club, obviously following in my footsteps as a Nigerian player to play for Chelsea, like Victor Moses and Celestine Babayaro.
“He’s looked at London as well as a fantastic city, instead of going to Liverpool. But he also has interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, but I’m still pushing and sending him messages. I hope he comes to the club because he will bring so much.
“Anyone who watched the [Carabao Cup] final [vs Liverpool] on Sunday will see one thing we lack is goals. We need a striker who will score goals and that is what Victor will give you. He’s not the most skilful player, but he guarantees goals. If he could get us 20 or 25 goals per season. That is what Erling Haaland does and that’s why he is one of the best.
“He’s not there for link-ups and all that, get the ball in the box and he will finish and that is something that I think Osimhen will definitely give us. So let’s hope it works out and he comes to Chelsea and becomes a legend.”
