Lazio president Claudio Lotito has denied the talks of him being interested in selling Sergej Milinković-Savić in the approaching summer transfer market.
In an interview with Rai Sport, Lazio’s Lotito affirmed that he had not thought of putting the Serbian midfielder on the transfer list. He said,
“Did I put him up for sale? You always talk about money, I talk about the technical and moral qualities of the players. Milinkovic is not for sale, I respect him a lot.
“I have never put him up for sale, is there a sign for sale? To buy there is a need for those who sell. I respect Milinkovic very much, he can make a difference and I have a good relationship with him.
“If I were to be requested by a top team in the world, I would ask the player who wants to play, human value and then the economic one. When I was made an indecent offer of €140 million, I decided not to sell him.
As per the reports, Manchester United and Juventus have been keeping tabs on Lazio’s 27-year-old for months. The Serb has experienced a decent campaign under the management of Maurizio Sarri. Being an epitome of consistency, he has garnered 10 goals and 11 assists from 35 appearances in Serie A thus far.
Signed from Genk in the summer of 2015, Milinković-Savić will see his current contract at Rome running out in June 2024. During his time with Biancocelesti, the midfield maestro has won one Coppa Italia and two Suppercoppa Italiana titles.
