Relegation-threatened Norwich City has confirmed that midfielder Billy Gilmour has returned to his parent club, Chelsea.
The Scotsman has been struggling with an ankle injury and according to his manager Dean Smith, the player returned to London for more assessment on his injury but doesn’t expect his loan deal to be cut short.
“He has gone back to Chelsea today for them to assess it but hopefully he will be back for his treatment and rehab over the next few days.
Thomas Tuchel on Billy Gilmour:
“He is here to have the best examination. Then we can decide with him together and Norwich about the treatment, then we will take the decision. There has been no talks so far.”

“I don’t believe so (that his loan deal would be cut short). I don’t think the injury is significant enough for that. I believe it is an injury where he will be assessed by Chelsea and then sent back to us. Hopefully, in the next three weeks he is back playing,” Smith said.
Gilmour has been a key figure for the side since joining them in the summer and has been a regular figure under both Smith and former manager Daniel Farke but sat out of their FA Cup clash with Charlton on Sunday.
