Newcastle United and PSG target Moussa Diaby (23) has confirmed that he has no intention of leaving Bayer Leverkusen and will continue to play for the Bundesliga club next season.
“I’ve made my decision and will play for Bayer Leverkusen again next season,” Diaby told Rheinische Post. “My goals for the coming season haven’t changed. With Bayer we want to have a top team again and I want to help the team as much as possible by continuing to score goals, but also providing assists. The goal is to get as far as possible in all competitions.”
After enjoying his best season in professional football to date, scoring 13 and creating 12 in 32 Bundesliga games last season, Diaby courted interested from Newcastle United and PSG. The Frenchman was considered a priority target by Premier League side Newcastle United but with three years remaining on his current deal, B04 would have commanded a significant fee – a sum totalling more than €60m.
Diaby joined Bayer Leverkusen from PSG in 2019 for €15m and has become an integral member of the attacking trio at the German club. Since his move, the French international has scored 35 and created 37 across 124 games in all competitions for Die Werkself.
