Napoli goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini has apologised after their Coppa Italia defeat to Frosinone.
Frosinone won 4-0 at the Maradona last night.
Gollini said: “It is certainly a duty to apologise to the fans. I’m sorry for the performance, in football when you see a result you tend to think that it all sucked. There have been many changes, you can’t always win, but there are various ways to lose. 4-0 at home in front of our fans is not good.
“A club like ours must aim to move forward on all fronts. We’re sorry for how we lost, we have to cancel this evening and move on.
“We must be able not to get too excited about victories and not get depressed during defeats. We must put aside this negative evening, indeed, so that it can be a stimulus to give more to demonstrate that we are not like this.
“I believe there are two points of view to analyse. We are not people who have a board full of trophies, so there is no lack of hunger. Indeed, it must be an incentive to win again, but at the same time last year was emotionally tiring and perhaps we lost something from a competitive point of view. We have to go back to being what we were last year from an attitude point of view. If we lack intensity and this spirit, evenings like this emerge.”
