Napoli coach Rudi Garcia is hopeful of tension between the club and Victor Osimhen has eased.
Osimhen scored in last night’s 4-1 win against Udinese in a week where he threw a strop against Garcia during the 0-0 draw against Bologna. His agent, Robert Calenda, then threatened to sue the club after a mocking social media video was released on their channels.
Garcia said after defeating Udinese: “In Bologna we were all frustrated, it can happen and we clarified it. From a sporting point of view everything went back to normal, then there were a few things to manage following some clumsy episodes.
“Nobody wanted to cause problems with the Tik Tok and not even Osimhen on his social media, but it’s an instinctive reaction. He loves this shirt, he loves the fans.”
Garcia also said: “At the time of the substitution I complimented Osimhen, I have had an excellent relationship with him since I arrived and I’m happy because tonight he scored and a centre-forward always wants to score.
“He was a bit unlucky in the last matches, he was quite calm as I told him. He also made the assist, he was the one who had to take the penalty because when someone makes a mistake you don’t remove him from the role of penalty taker but he gave an assist to (Piotr) Zielinski.”
