Mohammed Salah hints at International retirement after missing the World Cup

Mohammed Salah has hinted at international retirement following Egypt’s failure to make it to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Salah was part of the Egypt team that lost 3-1 to Senegal on post-match penalties after a 1-1 draw in regular time on Tuesday night with the player missing his spot-kick in the shootout.

“I spoke with the players in the dressing room before the second leg and told them that I am proud to play with them and they are one of the finest groups I have played with.

“I have spent some time with the previous generations with Wael Gomaa and Mohamed Aboutrika, as well as the Abdallah El, Said generation and I am very happy with the current crop.

“Whether or not I am available in the future, I am proud to have been your teammate. It was an honor for me,” Salah said in his rousing speech in the dressing room to his teammates after the game.

According to the local tabloids, Salah was quickly interrupted by an Egyptian official, who insisted: “You’ll be with us.”

Egyptian FA has accused Senegal fans for racially abusing Salah after they targeted the Liverpool man with lasers during the shootout.
