PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s meltdown last night has made the referee’s report.
PSG were at one stage 2-0 ahead on aggregate before a 17 minute hat-trick from Karim Benzema saw Real Madrid win the round 16 tie 3-2 and reach the quarterfinals.
Ok Diario reports Al-Khelaifi stormed into the referee’s room to confront Danny Makkelie, “screaming like a madman”, as witnesses present at the time confirmed.
A Real Madrid employee recorded the scene, which infuriated Al Khelaifi, who allegedly shouted: “I’m going to kill you!”
His own bodyguards had to take him by force to his team’s locker room to avoid the attack.
For his part, Leonardo, the sports director of PSG, also began to shout “like crazy” and demanded the images on the mobile phone be deleted that, by the way, had gone flying due to Al Khelaifi’s attacks.
Al Khelaifi’s behavior was later reflected in the UEFA report. It details that “the president and the technical director of PSG showed aggressive behavior and tried to enter the referees’ locker room.” When the referee asked him to leave, “they blocked the door and the president deliberately hit the pennant of one of the assistants, breaking it.”
