Manchester United target Zinédine Zidane unlikely to make Premier League move

Zinédine Zidane has been out of work since leaving Real Madrid in 2021. The Frenchman continues, however, to be linked with the top jobs in Europe, including the Manchester United role, which could become vacant at the end of the season.

According to Foot MercatoManchester United’s new INEOS shareholders have identified Zidane as a potential replacement for Erik Ten Hag, whose position at Old Trafford is looking increasingly tenuous. Sports Zone have also linked Julian Nagelsmann, who will be free after his stint as Germany manager comes to an end upon the completion of the upcoming European Championships, to a move to the Premier League club.

The latter may become a primary target given that the former may not necessarily be keen on a move to England. Speaking to RMC Sport, Julien Laurens has revealed that Zidane would perhaps be reticent to make a move to the Premier League.

I’ve always been told that the language barrier in terms of his English, which he doesn’t speak and doesn’t necessarily want to learn, has always been an obstacle to him arriving in the Premier League, be that at Manchester United or elsewhere […] I don’t think he likes life in England either. He didn’t want to come as a player and nor does he want to come as a manager,” the French journalist stated. Whilst Manchester United may have a new manager come the start of next season, it doesn’t look likely that Zidane will be the man in the dugout at Old Trafford.
