According to Foot Mercato, INEOS would like to make Zinedine Zidane the manager of Manchester United in place of Erik ten Hag.
Jim Ratcliffe completed his purchase of a 25% stake in Manchester United this month which will see his company INEOS take control of the sporting department at the club. And in interviews last week, the new owner began to set out his vision of returning the club back to its perch at the top of the English game.
It’s thought that INEOS believes one of the steps to bringing about this vision will be to recruit a different manager to lead this new era at the club, with Jean-Claude Blanc, the chief executive at the company a big admirer of Zidane, and had previously tried to recruit him when he worked at Paris Saint-Germain.
Zinedine Zidane out of work but not out of mind
The former Real Madrid manager has not worked since 2021, but his status as an elite coach has yet to diminish in that time, with his role in bringing Real Madrid three Champions League titles in a row yet to be matched by any other manager.
It has long been thought that Zidane has been waiting for the French national team job to become available, but with that opportunity still not on the horizon, it appears that Zidane would be willing to become a club manager once again.
