Gianluca di Marzio has revealed that Manchester United would need to shell out between €130 million and €150 million to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli and the Red Devils can afford to pay that sum.
Osimhen was heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford last summer in a potential swap deal involving Cristiano Ronaldo but the move never went through, as the Nigerian wanted to stay at Napoli and the time in the transfer window was quite limited to pull through with a complicated deal.
Napoli should now be glad that the move never went through, as Osimhen is firing on all cylinders. But Di Marzio, in a chat with Kelbet, has revealed that Osimhen has been United’s key target for a couple of seasons now and he is their priority over Harry Kane.
He stated: “Man United´s main target is definitely Osimhen and he has been that for at least two seasons. He is an excellent player and very unique with his skills.”
“The situation around Harry Kane is a bit weird. Obviously, Man United will try to get him if they are not getting Osimhen, who is their top priority.”
Di Marzio revealed that while Osimhen is United’s target, Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the Nigerian but United are the favourites to sign the player.
“I think that Osimhen could leave Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain could be a possibility for him.”
“But Manchester United are probably the favourites to get him.”
There has been talk of Napoli not looking to deal with clubs that are offering less than €150 million for Osimhen, but Di Marzio stated that the Partenopei would selll the ex-Lille man for anything between €130 million and €150 million. United could also afford to pay that.
“I think that Napoli will let Osimhen go for between €130-150 million. Man United can afford that.”
Osimhen has already reached the 25-goal mark in all competitions for Napoli and he recently broke Samuel Eto’o’s record for the highest number of goals in a single season by an African player in Serie A.
