Manchester City’s move fr Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland is set to land Phil Foden a pay rise.
A new long-term contract at City, worth £150,000-a-week, was agreed by the England winger – in principle – last October, says the Daily Star.
But that deal has yet to be signed, meaning Haaland’s expected arrival in the summer from Borussia Dortmund – on a massive £500,00-a-week – is certain to force a review of Foden’s financial terms.
Both players are the same age. Foden turns 22 in May, Haaland a couple of months later in July.
Yet while the Norwegian striker has amassed a prolific unrivaled goals record wherever he has played, Foden has won a lot more silverware with Pep Guardiola’s men.
And with England among the main contenders at this year’s World Cup finals in Qatar, the Stockport-born playmaker’s status as one of the planet’s greatest young talents is only going to soar.
That is why the Etihad hierarchy will have little choice but to return to the table and renegotiate a more lucrative package with Foden’s representatives – should they break their wage structure by bringing in Haaland in the close season
