Pep Guardiola admits he wants to win the Champions League for Manchester City.
City host Bayern Munich tomorrow night in the Champions League semifinal first-leg.
Guardiola said: “[I want to win it] a lot. We want to try. It is an honour to be here against an elite club in Bayern Munich. We will not take it for granted. We have to play two games. Starting tomorrow.
“The question has been coming every single season. I understand that. We try every single season. Teams you face also good too and want to win too. My dream is to live it again. We want to try but that doesn’t mean we are going to win.”
Guardiola was asked about the difference in facing Bayern Munich coached by former boss Julian Nagelsmann and current one Thomas Tuchel: “They are both creative managers in the way they shape their formations.
“Maybe tomorrow is going to do something new.
“I try to figure out the quality they have in all departments. It would have been difficult with Julian Nagelsmann and also will be difficult against Tuchel.
“I don’t pay that much attention, more attention on what I do with my team.”
On striker Erling Haaland, he added: “He is important for us, I cannot deny. He came to help us to be here in the Champions League, to win that, but as well as the FA Cup and the Premier League as well.
“It is important to have a player who from nothing can score a goal, but we have scored many goals in this competition in the past and gone out. Maybe the problem was that we were not solid enough to defend.
“We always scored goals, but that was not the problem in general.”
