Although the uncertainty in connection with the contract situation of Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara has entered its final day, Milan are hopeful of a renewal.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the current terms of Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara at Milan will come to an end at the end of June 30, meaning that they will be free to join another club unless they agree to another extension with the Rossoneri before the end of the day.
But Milan remain hopeful of convincing both Maldini and Massara to extend their contracts with the Scudetto holders. Since joining the section of the backroom staff, Maldini has received heaps of pludits for his works in the technical areas.
Together with Massara, Maldini built a team that helped Stefano Pioli win the first Serie A title as a manager. Milan also won their first Scudetto after the 2010/11 season.
Now, the technical director seeks more power at Milan. He wishes for a position which will enable him to have the last say on changes in the technical area.
He also wants to play a more active role in the process of building the team with Massara and Pioli. Milan owners have the confidence in Maldini, but the Milan legend wants those demands to be framed in the new contract.
But, if he doesn’t agree to Milan’s request before the end of the day, the 54-year-old will be free to leave the club on July 1, 2022.
